New Governors Named For 17 Provinces

New governors and deputies have been named for 17 provinces in an attempt to improve governance, the government announced on Monday.

Additionally, new police chiefs had been appointed for 10 provinces. Zabihullah Mujahid, the government’s spokesman, said in a statement.

Without going into details, he added the fresh appointments had been made in compliance with a decree.

Governors

Abdul Ghani has been appointed as governor for Badakhshan, Mohammad Ali Jan for Paktia, Qari Baryalai for Kabul, Nisar Ahmad for Kunduz, Qari Bakhtiar for Baghlan, Mali Khan for Logar, Abdullah Mukhtar for Paktika, Abdullah Sarhadi for Bamyan.

Haji Daawat has been named as governor for Uruzgan, Rohani for Farah, Abdul Rahman Aka for Sar-i-Pul, Shoaib for Jawzjan, Qari Pahlawan for Faryab, Mohammad Amin Jan Kuchi for Maidan Wardak, Besmillah for Zabul, Najibullah Rafi for Nimroz and Ishaq Akhundzada for Ghazni.

Deputy governors

Mufti Mohammad Idris has been appointed as deputy governor for Kabul, Habib Rahman for Kunduz, Mohammad Idris for Baghlan, Inamullah for Logar, Saeed Ahmad for Laghman, Noorul Huda for Balkh, Jihadyar for Farah, Mohammad Nader for Sar-i-Pul.

Abdul Manan Mahmood has been appointed as deputy governor for Jawzjan, Sher Ahmad for Maidan Wardak, Abdul Khaliq Abid for Zabul, Abdul Manan for Samangan, Sayed Hanif for Ghazni, Abdullah for Kunar, and Hajid Rashid for Daikundi.

Police chiefs

Mujahid said Wali Jan Hamza had been appointed as police chief for Kabul, Azizullah for Kunduz, Safiullah Akhund for Baghlan, Mohammad Din Shah Mukhbit for Logar, Matiullah for Balkh, Habibullah Shakir for Takhar, Haji Masum for Farah, Huzaifa for Faryab, Labib for Ghor, Abdul Haq Haqqani for Kunar, and Sulaiman Agha as head of five Shindand districts.
